Mailboxes and aliases

Choose whether an address needs its own mailbox or should deliver to another address.

Mailbox or alias?

A mailbox has its own password, stored messages, and webmail login. An alias has no login or storage and redirects mail to one or more existing destinations.

Create a mailbox

Verify and enable the domain first, then create the mailbox in Console. Set a strong unique password and copy it securely to the mailbox user. Passwords are write-only and cannot be recovered later.

Passwords and storage

Use Console or Webmail to change a mailbox password. Review current storage usage and quota in Console. Remove or export messages before storage is exhausted.

Create an alias

Create an alias when several public addresses should deliver to existing mailboxes. Verify every destination carefully and remove unused aliases so mail is not forwarded unexpectedly.
